TAI CHI No. 1

Tai Chi No. 1 captures the delicate equilibrium between movement and stillness, strength and serenity. Balanced on a single leg, the figure appears almost weightless, its curved body and carefully positioned arms suggesting a movement that continues beyond the frozen instant of the sculpture.

The closed eyes turn the figure inward. Rather than confronting an opponent, the practitioner seems to be listening to the body itself — searching for that precise point where breathing, concentration and physical control become one. The vibrant green surface introduces an unexpected sense of vitality and optimism, contrasting with the contemplative expression of the dark, simplified face.

There is also a gentle playfulness in the exaggerated proportions and rounded forms. This prevents the work from becoming solemn and gives Tai Chi No. 1 a distinctly contemporary character: meditation expressed through movement, but with warmth and humanity.
